A huge sunflower grew well over twelve feet in the garden. It was amazing

Echinacea was the absolute best this year so big, so healthy truly amazing. I harvested a bunch of seed of the plants this fall.

I added several other colour of Echinacea this year so lets hope it winter wells.

So many new changes in the garden over the fall. I can't wait to see how everything makes it over the winter.
I added rocks to the existing above ground pond it gives it a nice finish.

Our new pond is quite shallow so it is safe for our grandson to visit. I am hoping it has a natural look to it next year.

Chunky rustic orange and poppy seed soap ~ this is a good solid bar a lot of soap in these bars.

Our summer here on the farm has gone by so fast it was a good, hot, intense heat summer. We had quite a few weddings and new people dropping in. We have done changes to the garden we have joined the orchard into the main garden so when walking around you can do a complete circle. We have added a new pond quite shallow just a nice water feature I am hoping next year it looks natural like it has always just been there. I planted different mints around it, blueberries, grasses. It does have some flowers for now but I may move those next year as I want a natural look, I am not sure I can pull it off just yet. The old pond the above ground I put in the summer of 2014 I surrounded that with some lovely rock it put a nice finish to it.
We built a new drying shed this was not in the plan but with the wind and weather wrecking the old one we had no choice.

The last of the lavender here it is drying out on the kitchen table waiting to be made into wreaths.

Wreath making it is amazing how much lavender goes into one wreath.

Good Morning
This morning I have had great inspiration for my gardens so this of course always means hard work and usually involves rocks. I have a spot in the main garden that is hard to work with it is super hot and dry. The sun cooks it all afternoon just a little slope that one can not see only if you water it, it will run down hill just enough to mess up the watering. I have planted a lot of shrubs so when they grow it will be quite bushy. I have the above ground pond that is the Inspiration I am going to do rock work around it give it an ole European feel to it. I will do this when weather cools and the snakes are asleep I would hate to run into one of those. I am due for a good rock work out.

The lavender gardens have a had a lot of visitors it has been fun. Yesterday we had a kids camp come out we showed them different herbs, produce had been picked from the garden, they saw the lavender and had a look in the lavender house.
A little over a week away is a wedding so I am mentally preparing for that getting bows, labels and supplies organized.

A very warm and Peaceful lavender morning.
August first this is crazy how did we get to this month so fast!! So much is happening around the farm we mainly try really hard to keep things watered, the gardens are hot and tired about a month early out here.
So much Inspiration, so many ideas now just need to make it fit into the time we have.

I have been testing out Corsages and Boutonnieres. Testing the length of time they have in the heat. Trying out new colours, new varieties so we have a wide variety to offer our brides and grooms and special occasions. Remember to book your wedding flowers and special occasions well in advance.
We have dried bouquets that are dainty and perfect to add into your décor.

judy-sue@petitcreeklavender.com email and we can set up a time to plan your special event

There are so many beautiful flowers in the garden. Here is a Chamomile flower isn't it amazing how one little flower can do so much. Today's agenda includes picking many of these little blooms.

Roses in abundance so many, so pretty.

 Oh my goodness the colours.
Everyday we are getting closer to blooming

Friday, June 12, 2015

So much beauty in the garden last night. Sometimes when I walk through all I see is weeds, work that needs to be done changes I should be doing. And, other times I see magic, calmness, love and peace last night was one of those nights. We have had intense heat and last night the wind was crazy so while I was watering I actually ended up getting cold ~ so cold but I had to finish up. Then I woke up to downpours of rain this morning so the weather has a nice way of working itself out.

The beautiful glow actually came from forest fire smoke it made everything golden.  The lavender is really starting to bud it is nice to see and the fragrance this morning was just pure magical.

Lavender sweet, sweet lavender

The gardens are budding up and starting to show purple. This is always an exciting time the anticipation of the flowers but not the work of the harvest.

The roses always seem so gentle and delicate.
They sit quietly in the garden looking quite pleased with themselves.

The lavender purple is welcoming site as our first weeding is in one month. With many bundles needed every flower will count

The gardens are coming along they seem a bit early this year which is funny because we had to cut back the plants so much again. So the plants we cut back will be later and the plants we didn't will be earlier. We have had quite a bit of rain the last week or so and that really helped things grow flowers, grass, trees and the weeds.
The soap for one wedding order is ready that is good to have that done. It is hard to be inside this time of the year.
If anyone is want to order and product or if they are wanting to visit the farm you may email me at judy-sue@petitcreeklavender.com

Spring time on the farm

It has been intense cleaning and preparing the gardens for a couple of months now. Spring is popping in now and then. Little bits of colour brightening up the farm.

The lavender again to a beating there will be a lot of cut back again. We just turned on the water so I will give it a week or two then I will start cutting back.

In the gardens last year I transplanted some violets that a friend let me pick  from her garden and I am excited to say they all came back.

A very busy time here on the farm with intense cleaning, removing gravel and planting grass seed. Spring seems early this year little bits of green popping out, lilacs in bud.

Summer thoughts but first I have to get through winter then find Spring.
Spring I love that time of year
waiting
for snow to melt, new growth, farm babies.
And
My mind is fresh so all the work does not seem over whelming

I wonder if my poppies have reseeded themselves?
The magic  in finding the purple poppies
My mom bought me two little green poppy plants and to my surprise they were a sweet mauve
Perfect for a lavender garden.
