Happy New Years Eve.
What a year it has been here on the farm.
So much accomplished when I look back at pictures it is amazing. I can feel really good. I have worked hard! worked morning to night.
There has been many amazing projects. I redid the the kitchen to surprise my husband :) while he was at work-actually a lot of my projects are done while he is at work. Nothing like keeping him excited about what will be done at home.
We raked, smoothed out our yards, pulled down fences, rebuilt Buddha heads, built dove pens, built Arbours, built fences, planted many trees, planted perennials, built walkways, carried many, many, many buckets of gravel, plowed fields, built Lavender houses, attended in town sales, and planted many hundreds of Lavender plants.
I could go on and on we really did so much.
I know now why we dropped into bed at night so tired.
Petit Creek Lavender really became a reality this year.
I could not have done it with out my families help.
My kids worked hard this summer.
Thank you to all of you who showed interest in our humble little farm, to all who purchased our products.
Thank you so much for letting me love my dream.
I will post some pictures over the next while of our year.

Thursday, December 20, 2012

We now have some snow over the lavender but not too much. I hope it is good enough for protection during the winter. We have the orders going out and we have made some new products which we will introduce in the New year.
The time is flying by.

A very good morning.
Ah a good weekend NO hockey, can't get any better than that. I hope to we get time to decorate our Christmas tree this weekend a tiny bit early but my husband will be home.
Our kids get to start their Chocolate Calendars today. Dec 1, nothing like a little chocolate bribery to get them off to school.
Since I have been selling quite a bit of products I will be back up sewing before too long.
Well I am off to have the most wonderful day with my family... I wonder if they are too old to visit Santa :)
Anyone who would like to visit the Lavender house email me at
judy-sue@petitcreeklavender.com and we will set a date and time

A very early good morning.
Awake at 3am I need some fresh lavender in our bedroom.
Sigh it is going to be a long day ahh but a good one.
Our Grandson is one today hard to believe.
My daughter comes home from Ottawa her team placed 3rd out of 12. So by this evening all my children will be home.
I have an idea to make some heart shape sachets and bead work filled with lavender so if I get a moment I will start a couple of those.

Have the most wonderful day and ~lavender thoughts...

Some people wonder why a Lavender Farm?
Years ago when our children were little I had told my husband I wanted a Christmas tree farm (since I love Christmas) always dreamed it would be wonderful for the kids.
However lack of knowledge, pine bettle, shortage of water all over the world, it never happened.
So the next best thing is a Lavender Farm! it is beautiful, fragrance is amazing, romantic and wonderful.
However it is 100 times more work and Santa has yet to visit...

Good Morning our days are starting early & can sure make for a long day. My dad started tearing out fences so he can cut down trees we have 6 or so on the barn end of the property of (Pine beetle trees) It looks like a huge amount of work & I wish we could wave a magic wand. So I am pretty sure that is going to be my day. Yesterday my whole day was used up by cuddling and holding a sleeping baby, he sure is a love.
Well must run and catch that school bus this morning.
We have 100% bees wax candles

Good Morning what is on the agenda today?
After farming chores a little washing of a new dresser then I hope to get it ready to paint!
I finally have my antique barn wood bench for the new lavender garden. For now it is under my front deck until I find a clear stain to help keep it nice.
I get so excited when I imagine our new lavender field all full of Lavender blooming while we sit on the bench under the lilac trees.

Ahh I am so impatient.
I want my Mom and Dad to see how beautiful it will be.
Maybe this winter I will try to paint a picture so we can dream about it!!
So many wonderful dreams swirling through my head today.

Wednesday, October 3, 2012

Good Morning hope you are well on this chilly morning -2 this am.
After our last couple of days of strong wind Man do I have pine needles! After I watch my Grandson this morning I have to head out and tidy up some of the Lavender we had a few late bloomers in the Eiffel tower garden.

Have an enchanting, amazing, fun day!!

Saturday, September 22, 2012

Yeah for the weekend!
 Go out and enjoy today.
We have a farmers market still going on it town, we also have the Baillie house to visit. I would do both of those things if I lived in town.

Have an amazing, wonderful, incredible, inspiring, romantic, fun, loving day!!

Friday, September 21, 2012

Good Morning.

Well that night was very short (tired today) I cannot believe how fast the weeks are going by.
We are having some serious, awesome weather!
I wonder how long it will last?
I hope to get the last of the garden fabric down today, which is not the best job to do.
I need to remove piles of old grass transplant a rose or two. As soon as my kid-lets head off to school I need to make the most of this day.
My son found this snail when he was digging holes. We must have imported him with some plants. I did not think it was moist enough for these guys and I have noticed we do have some different things about that we did not have before.

A good day the first row of lavender is in the new field.
I sure hope they make the winter.
I hope to start the next row tomorrow but I have to babysit a very cute little boy who has learned to crawl since last week :) so I am not sure how much I will actually accomplish.
The lilac trees are in very excited about that.
I hope your day was a good one.

Saturday, September 8, 2012

Good Morning a very early start here today alarm went off at 3am. I hope you find time to enjoy your weekend.
Yesterday afternoon I moved all the Lavender plants over that need to be planted. The mini roses will have to go in the ground soon also since I found something had been in the greenhouse knocked all the plants over, they were turned out of their pots. Plus add two long rips in the plastic. My first thought was a bear but I am thinking more along the line a dog and a squirrel now!

Sunday, September 2, 2012

Sunday Morning a good day to you all.

I hope you have a wonderful time today.
With our evenings coming on cooler in the next few months here is something to try. Take two drops of pure 100% Lavender essential oil add the drops to some pine cones to burn in your fireplace or wood burning stove.
A soft delicate fragrance will fill the air.

Saturday, September 1, 2012

A nice day today.
The plowing did not go as planned sigh... always the hard route here. I ended up weed eating over half the field then try to us the lawnmower it was tedious, tiring, frustrating and on top of it all, a darn snake.
I will have to see what my Dad plans to try tomorrow.
I did make some stepping stones tonight so that was a bit of a bonus.
Just so you feel for me I have seen 5 snakes then add 7 my family has seen way too many for this farmer.
Maybe you heard me scream today? :)
I screamed so loud it made my dad jump; he could hear me over the lawn mower.
All would have been good if the darn snake had not stopped and try to climb on my lawn mower and stare at me!
Next time maybe the snake will just slide away
The Lavender house in the sun on the First day of September

A wonderful Blue Moon. Hope you saw it too.

With fall in the air I thought you might want to try this nice recipe that I found.
Lavender & Cinnamon Spread
1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed. 1 table spoon ground, dried lavender buds. 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.
Blend ingredients together & store in an airtight container or small zip lock container. Combine 2 tablespoons of mix with 1 cup of softened cream cheese OR 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter. Chill at least 1 hour to blend flavors. Soften 15-20 minutes before serving.
Use on bagels, muffins, scones or biscuits.

This recipe was found the book Lavender Sensations

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Good Morning it looks like a very nice day today.
My house is bursting with the aroma of Lavender as I bought a new bag of dried Lavender buds just off their stems into the house last night, so many good projects happening.
Oh, but is my kitchen a mess, it gets all clean and sparkles...then a new projects starts and the mess starts all over again.

Sunday, August 26, 2012

A very good Sunday morning, I had a nice coffee with my dad, sister and nephew this morning.
While I was watering the flowers at the New Lavender House our little kitten played along with us. It is very cute, terrified of the broom.
We bought it a new bed that is very, very cute.
I will have to take a picture and show you.
True luxury for this little fire base kitty.
Last night I popped him in my sweatshirt and took him to the river, nothing scared it trying to climb trees, run and hide. Not too sure if it is a male or female I thinking I am leaning towards it being a male.
On the agenda today I need to wrap up some new soap, do a bit more sewing. Have a wonderful day

Thursday, August 23, 2012

Good Morning.

Only 6 degrees this morning!
I picked a wonderful Crop of Hops it was quite exciting to see them all, but man oh man did my arms itch for the whole day.
Now they are drying nicely in the little lavender house.
Yesterday I used up most of the day sewing, it is good to get this done I really do not like being inside on a summers day.
I was very, very low on products.
I made a quick trip to see my Sam be a goalie, he told me he was stopping pucks being shot at him 85-86 miles an hour (things a Mom does not need to know)

We will be at the Baillie House in town on Sept. 15.

Good Morning Very short night around here.
My firefighter is going to kill me ahh I was so worried last night (but so was my husband :)) finally we heard from him at 12:55am. A nice day out with my family we have not done that much this summer.
Today on my agenda is harvesting the "ice lavender" I noticed as beautiful as it growing and as beautiful as the very, sweet fragrance is, it is not as nice to look at dried so it will be a sachet lavender for now.
A very dainty plant.
I will try to get a good picture to show you.

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Good Morning. I hope this Sunday is finding you well! I am bit tired as I worried all night about my firefighter. Finally he checked in late last night & he is off again early this am. Man it is hard to watch them grow up. I worried about him in the dark, driving, not eating, being by himself, will he hear his phone, being on a fire, getting hurt. He is doing it all and doing fine it's just his Mom has issues :) goes with the territory of six kids. I am very proud of each of them so far it is all on track good kids, no issues. Take time to be proud of your kid’s todays. hmmm I wonder if any of mine would like to weed a lavender garden :)

Wednesday, August 8, 2012

I painted it gray to blend in to hide in the trees but I am thinking when I redo it will be white.
The original shed was used for lambing, then hay. We took that down reused most of the wood.
Pretty funny recycling when you know a "hoof" has gone through the wall. The Irises I bought from a local heritage house Baillie House they were having a fund raiser if you look close you can see writing on the plants.
I had missed the white ones they were selling which would have been perfect.

Tuesday, August 7, 2012

The colours are quite nice it makes you think of sunshine in the morning and sunset in the evening with a little dash of sunflowers that all blend with the perfect purples of lavender.

Good Morning.
The start of a long weekend here in BC. Do you have plans? Right now not me.
I am setting up the new Lavender house quite unique, quite rustic...
I still have half a lavender garden to harvest yesterday’s rain slowed me down. I did get some wonderful herbs harvested last night.
So today I will sort and tidy those.
My goodness did the weeds take over while I have been building, so I am slowly trying to win over those.
 Have a wonderful Friday.
Oh can you here that...I had a little peacock hatch yesterday, he is still in the incubator.
 Very cute

Moving day!!!

Moving from the little Lavender house to the big lavender house today. The little lavender house isn't going anywhere it will be used for drying, tea and coffee.

It is very special in my heart.

So much Creative Energy and Fun went into both of these houses.
They are Unique...maybe because I had a huge part in the building...Perfect for on our farm.

100% Inspiration and Creative from my heart. And much to my families dismay I have A LOT of Inspiration. man it just rolls off me some days :)
Good Day
I have been thinking of trying a few recipes lavender scones that have a very light delicate taste not too heavy on the Lavender.
I might make some more Lavender Shortbread, these are my favorite so nice for a quick break with a cup of tea. And, maybe I will take them out in the garden.
There are so many recipes that call for the use of Lavender.
 Just remember less is more.
Too much it might be like eating a bar of soap.
What recipe will you try?

The Olympics start today.

How exciting I absolutely love, love, love the Olympics! My favorite time was when BC hosted the winter Olympics, I kept myself right near the TV every chance I could and I made some wonderful projects.
Hmm I wonder what I should do for this one?
Well off to think about that while I paint some boards.

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Is your lavender is ready to be cut?
Use garden clippers or scissors grab a handful cut the stems with flowers then take a rubber band tie together and hang upside down to dry. Lavender dries really nice.
Bring lavender in your home.
 We have bundled a lot.
My daughters and my Mom helped me with some of the gardens.
This season I have run out of room to hang it so I need to get on that right away.
Our main lavender we harvest is smaller stems and we do not get as much of a plant. We do have a few plants of Provence, Grosso which we are going to test.
New for us this year is an Ice lavender I was not sure what to expect, now it is just starting to bloom and it looks amazing.
White flowers with a bit of light mauve.
I am really looking forward to see it in full bloom.

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Good Morning
We are down to our last garden. The one garden we just harvest was really lovely. The gardens are not very pretty in decoration just lavender plants and this one hidden thrived. I am so trying to work on my dad to give up a piece of the hay field. It would have to be plowed and tilled and that is what is stopping me definitely Dad's department. I think I will go start some more plants in case I win.

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Today another valuable lesson was found. Do not use foam insulation without gloves. Do not try to pick it up and replace it. I have tried paint thinner, soap and hot water, nail polish remover, some orange hand cleaner. I wonder how I am going to sleep. In case you are wondering how am I typing...I have plastic wrap on my hands.:)

Monday, July 23, 2012

Here is a Chocolate Lavender Brownie Recipe to try.
It is so good be prepared to eat the whole pan!

Saturday, July 21, 2012

I am about half way through the lavender harvest. I had to quit yesterday because of storms thunder, lightening and rain. I shall see how today goes.
Summer is going by fast I think it is because I am so busy. Maybe for August I will go at a snail pace so I can hold off with school and hockey!!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Thursday, July 19, 2012

Good Morning.
An early start here today with an coyote running along our fence line, it  sure did bring the goats in a hurry. I walked out to check everything all seemed well. I have to drive my son to the base this morning in case he heads out to a fire and will be gone over night. This interrupts my farming but I would be left without a truck. So the lavender will have to wait.
Last night I put quite a good lot up. I am running out of room with the lavender. I think I will look for a hanging wrack while I am in town this should tie me over until my new lavender house is done. So on the agenda today drive to base, look for drying wrack, pick, pick and pick lavender. I think I will miss it in the garden standing so wonderful with a beautiful hue of purple.

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

A wonderful Good Morning.

This morning over coffee I took the time to look at a few wonderful pictures which I shared on my FB page "Petit Creek Lavender". www.facebook.com/petitcreeklavender
I dreamed of Provence and I realized we all have it with us here.
Our dreams, our inspiration, our beautiful, beautiful countries all have a little of Provence.
I walk through our property and realize among the hard work, some mess, some projects it is here, my home my little Provence.
I thank myself for being an amazing dreamer, for being positive, for being able to work hard mentally and physically.

I thank my husband for letting me do this, for shaking his head dreading the next project but letting me, wondering what animals will be appearing on the farm.

My brother and sisters who just think I am clever.

I thank my parents who we share the property with for letting me always start a new project usually when they leave for a few days.
My Mom who is always my best fan.
And, I thank my kids who without them none of this would be important, they truly are my life.
So I hope you make your home your Inspiration, your dream, your reality. Have a wonderful, wonderful day today.

Sunday, July 8, 2012

Hello we have been celebrating birthdays.
Our oldest daughter turned 23, it is amazing how fast the time is going. Canada day came and went.
And, we finally have SUMMER.
Our middle son start his first day of Forest Fire Fighting tomorrow. Ahh the stress begins.
The farm is coasting all.
And, that dreaded time hauling Hay is creeping up. The worst time. I may have to ask my oldest son if he can come home on his days off to help me later in the summer. :)

A good Sunday Morning. I seriously can not believe how fast the weeks are going. We are seeing a good lot of purple, funny some of the plants are ready to harvest others are not. We are finishing our shed we moved it is taking a lot longer than I thought. I am very impatient!
Watering the new lavender is an everyday chore. Wow my plants I ordered are down right horrible I have lost a good half of them. So bad so much of a waste of money. I guess the trip across the country is just too much for them. They are just too fragile. Plants seem to better but plug trays the little things just can't handle it.
We are having some
 WONDERFUL WEATHER FINALLY!

Our Roses have started to bloom everyday a few more. Gosh they are pretty.
I have been working hard out in the gardens. I always think I will be finished my projects then I start another one. I am not very good at sitting idol. My project right now is very, very big it will not happen over night and I really hate that. I am quite impatient.
Most of this week is going to be used up dealing with my middle sons grad. Hard to believe we have four children graduated and only two to go. Time flies by!
We are waiting for Summer.

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Monday, May 28, 2012

This past weekend we were at the Baillie House in town for a Spring Garden Celebration. The day turned out perfect! Warm and no wind. The wind in our town can be absolutely horrible, we are in a valley.
A lot of people came out, the day had a happy feel to it.
We do not spend a lot of time in town so even though we seem to drag our feet about driving into town.
It was a very nice, fun Spring day.

Two of my boys helped me set up, they were a great help. Then my youngest son stayed with me he helped, kept me company and ate all day!
Everytime I look at my sign it makes me smile. The picture just was perfect.
